The Golden Plains Shire 2019 Australia Day Award for Senior Citizen of the Year recognises the extraordinary work of an individual aged 65 years or older as of 26 January 2019. Consideration is given to the nature and length of activity or service.
The Golden Plains Shire 2019 Australia Day Award for Citizen of the Year recognises an individual who has contributed greatly to the community in the previous year, taking into consideration their ongoing achievements, voluntary work and sacrifice for the benefit of others.

Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey will announce the Australia Day Awards winners at a special presentation at the Bannockburn Cultural Centre on Tuesday 22 January 2019, prior to the first Council meeting of the year.
At its ordinary meeting on 18 December 2018, Council endorsed the Draft Communications and Marketing Strategy 2019-2021 to be put out to the community for feedback.
Residents and members of the public are welcome to attend ordinary meetings of Council which are held on Tuesdays at 6pm, with the exception of the 22 January 2019 meeting at 7pm, and alternate between Bannockburn and Linton.
