Council’s fire prevention officers have now finished its re-inspections after the issuing of fire prevention notices in November. Over 90% of properties inspected had undertaken work in accordance with the notices issued.
At the beginning of January, inspections will be undertaken of properties that received a Fire Prevention Notice in late December.
During the remainder of the Fire Danger Period, fire prevention officers will attend and inspect properties when reports of high grass are received from the community. If you are concerned about high grass on private land near your house or shed, please contact Council’s fire prevention officers so that an inspection can be arranged.
Council would like to remind the community that grass must continue to be kept below 100mm during the entire Fire Danger Period in accordance with the Country Fire Authority Act.
What is Council not allowed to do?
The CFA Act does not allow councils to issue Fire Prevention Notices on land and roadsides owned by State Government bodies and authorities.
Council’s Roadsides
Council’s roadside slashing program has commenced, with many roads already slashed. Please also note that major roads are slashed by the State Government through the Department of Transport and Planning.
