Golden Plains Shire Council’s Community Strengthening Grants Program returns in 2026, with applications open from Saturday 1 August for local community groups.

Community Strengthening Grants provide a valuable opportunity for local community groups and organisations to deliver vital projects, activities and programs in Golden Plains Shire.

Community groups are invited to apply for grants of up to $7,000, available in three categories:

  • Healthy Connected Community
  • Community Inclusion
  • Environment and Sustainability

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey encouraged local community groups to apply for grant funding to support their initiatives.

These grants help bring our community to life by supporting local groups and organisations to deliver projects, programs and activities that create opportunities for people to connect, participate and make a positive impact,Cr Sharkey said.

“By investing in community-led initiatives, we’re helping residents and local groups strengthen connections, build skills and create vibrant, inclusive communities where everyone can contribute and thrive.”

Community groups are strongly encouraged to discuss your application with Council’s Community Grants team. Please enquire soon after grants open to allow adequate time for the discuss prior to submitting your application.
