Social Media Ban for Young People

Your Guide to Social Media Changes & Where to Get Help

This resource list has been prepared by the Golden Plains Shire Council Youth Development Team to support young people and their families during the implementation of the new social media ban for under-16s. The list provides clear, reliable contacts and information sources to help navigate questions, concerns, and challenges related to the ban. It also includes a range of general mental health and wellbeing services, both national and local, to ensure young people have access to the help they need.

Our intention is to make sure every young person in the Golden Plains community feels supported and knows where to turn for assistance, whether it’s understanding the ban, managing online safety, or seeking help for mental health and wellbeing.

If you or someone you know would like to chat, ask questions, or connect with local youth programs, please reach out to the Golden Plains Youth Development Team at: 5220 7111 or [email protected].
