Golden Plains Shire Council, in partnership with VicHealth, is inviting young women aged 15 to 20 in Golden Plains Shire to participate in the Young Women’s Leadership Program that will run in term 3 from 12 July to 13 September, 2023

The Young Women’s Leadership Program will explore topics such as values and beliefs, women in leadership, public speaking, healthy friendships and relationships, women’s health, sex and consent, financial independence and mental health.

Young women aged 15 to 20 in Golden Plains are invited to complete an Expression of Interest to participate in the free 10-week program, where they will learn to develop their leadership skills, grow self-confidence and explore gendered and cultural barriers.

Golden Plains Shire Director Community, Planning and Growth Steven Sagona encouraged young women in Golden Plains to submit an Expression of Interest and participate in the program.

The Young Women’s Leadership Program is a fantastic opportunity for young women from all cultural backgrounds to build leadership skills and learn to overcome barriers to achieve their goals.

I encourage young women who want to increase their confidence and realise the positive impact they have in the world to register to participate in this great opportunity.

Online weekly sessions will be held on Wednesdays from 6.30 to 8.30pm, with three in-person sessions to take place on 12 July, 16 August and 13 September from 6 to 8pm at various locations within the Shire.

The Young Women’s Leadership Program is a VicHealth funded project as part of the VicHealth Local Government Partnership.

Expressions of Interest will be open to eligible community members from Thursday 1 June to Monday 3 July and can be made online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations or hard copies can be collected from Council’s Customer Hubs, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
