Mount Mercer

The road widening of Mt Mercer-Dereel Road will commence on Monday 20 October and is expected to take approximately 14 weeks, weather permitting.

Access via Mt Mercer-Dereel and Tippetts Road and Mt Mercer-Dereel and Gumley Rd will remain open for local access during these works, but there will be a full closure at the bridge on Spring Creek.

Council encourages all motorists to plan ahead during this time, and allow for extra travel time when accessing alternate routes.

This $1.84 million project is fully funded from the Federal Government’s Roads to Recovery program and includes 2.41km of road reconstruction to widen the existing single lane to two lanes and the replacement of the bridge at Spring Creek.

The works will greatly improve the safety and condition of the existing road and provide a consistent two-lane road from Shelford-Mt Mercer Rd to Colac-Ballarat Road.
