Golden Plains Shire Council adopted the Revenue and Rating Plan (the Plan) at its Council Meeting on Tuesday 24 June 2025.

The Revenue and Rating Plan (the Plan) outlines how Council generates revenue, primarily through rates and charges, to ensure sufficient funding for activities. The Plan forms a critical part of Council’s integrated planning framework.

The Plan was placed on public exhibition in April and May along with a Rating Differentials Proposition Paper which provided details of all options modelled, together with the preferred option and rationale to support the preferred option. Submissions received from the community during this time have been considered.

The Plan sets out decisions that Council has made in relation to rating options available to it under the Local Government Act 2020 to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of rates across property owners.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey says the Revenue and Rating Plan is an important part of Council’s integrated planning framework.

Thank you to the community members who provided feedback on the Plan during the public exhibition period, Cr Sharkey said.

Strategies outlined in the Plan align with the objectives contained in the Council Plan and will feed into our budgeting and long-term financial planning documents, as well as other strategic planning documents under our integrated planning framework.
