Notice of Motion: To Rescind The Previous Motion of Council

News

At the Unscheduled Council Meeting held on Friday 16 April, Council passed an amended resolution requiring Council to write to Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas seeking the Victorian Government to compulsorily acquire the Rokewood Uniting Church.

Following the meeting, Council received a Notice of Motion from Cr Owen Sharkey to rescind this resolution of Council. Under Council’s Governance Rules, once this Notice of Motion to rescind a resolution has been received, no action could be taken to implement the resolution. This Notice of Motion was considered at last night’s April Council Meeting. Deputy Mayor Cr Ian Getsom assumed the chair for this item, following Mayor Cr Helena Kirby declaring a Conflict of Interest. Council unanimously agreed to rescind the original motion.

As the Notice of Motion to rescind was passed, Council will not write to Minister Thomas regarding the Rokewood Uniting Church.

At the meeting, Councillors discussed the CEO forwarding the petition on the Rokewood Uniting Church to State Member for Polwarth Richard Riordan to be tabled in Parliament.
