Golden Plains Shire has endorsed the Municipal Early Years and Children’s Plan 2025-2029 (The Plan) at its June Council Meeting. Implementation of the Plan will help ensure coordinated, inclusive and responsive services and programs for children and their families over the next four years.
The comprehensive four-year Plan serves as a strategic framework for the health, development and well-being of children aged up to 12 years old in Golden Plains. The Plan reflects a shared focus on fostering an inclusive, supportive and connected community for children.
One-on-one consultations, community surveys, listening sessions and a community workshop were all part of an extensive community consultation process which began in November 2024.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the Plan was grounded in the principles of respecting, supporting and promoting children's rights and voices, and recognising the significant benefits Council can achieve for children and families.
“The Municipal Early Years and Children’s Plan 2025-2029 provides a clear and actionable roadmap for Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting children and families across the Shire,” Cr Sharkey said.
“The Plan reflects extensive research and early stakeholder engagement, aligns with State and local policy frameworks, and positions Council to respond proactively to the evolving needs of the community.”
