INVERLEIGH FLOOD STUDY

Planning
Inverleigh

Inverleigh residents may notice flood investigation contractors in their area in June.

Golden Plains Shire Council has contracted Water Technology to undertake a flood Investigation for the Leigh and Barwon Rivers in Inverleigh.  As part of the flood investigation, surveying of the floor levels of properties near the floodplain are being undertaken.

Surveyors will be in the Inverleigh area and may require access to properties located within the flood overlay, to help them with their investigations. Surveyors will carry identification at all times. Residents likely to be affected have been sent a letter from Council.

The property survey will greatly assist the flood investigation. It will enable the consultants to quantify the potential flood risk in the area, provide important information to emergency response agencies so they can better assist the community during floods, and support the design of potential flood mitigation works—these are all very important in working towards more resilient communities.

The survey is planned to be conducted during June.
