Youth

The Golden Plains Careers Expo (the Expo) returns in 2026, inviting individuals of all ages from across the Shire and beyond to attend this exciting event at the YMCA in Bannockburn on Thursday 4 June from 10am to 5pm.

The Expo provides a valuable opportunity for community members of all ages to connect with industry leaders and local businesses, explore diverse education and career pathways, and discover new avenues to strengthen their employment prospects.

Attendees will have the chance to meet and engage with representatives from education, skills and training providers, emergency services, the Australian Defence Force, local government, agriculture and a wide range of other sectors.

There is also an opportunity to discover more about upcoming local industry nights and accredited training opportunities, as well as hear from special guest speakers who will share valuable industry insights, pathway information and practical job-seeker skill development advice.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey described the Expo as a vibrant, valuable event for young people and anyone looking to shape their future career direction.

The Golden Plains Careers Expo is a fantastic opportunity for people of all ages to explore new pathways, connect with industry leaders and discover what’s possible for the future. Whether you’re a student, job-seeker or looking to make a career change, this event brings valuable information and inspiration right to our
community, Cr Sharkey said.

We’re proud to host an event that brings together education providers, local businesses, emergency services,
the Australian Defence Force and so many other sectors. It’s a chance for residents to learn directly from the
people shaping our region’s workforce, he said.

I encourage people to drop in, have a chat with the exhibitors and see what opportunities are out there. You
never know what might spark your interest.

The Golden Plains Careers Expo is supported and funded by the Victorian State Government’s Engage initiative.
