Enfield Playground Ready For Play

Enfield

Families are set to enjoy the brand-new playground at Harrison Reserve over the Christmas break.

The new playground at Enfield’s Harrison Reserve has opened following the removal of the old playground and construction works over the past three months.

Complete with a bird nest swing set, slide, rock-climbing element, monkey bars and dynamic climbing features, the new playground will appeal to children of a range of ages. Minor landscaping works and installation of street furniture will be completed early in the new year.

The $250,000 replacement of the existing facility with the brand-new playground was fully funded by the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program and delivered by Council. It is the fifth playground in Golden Plains Shire to be upgraded this year, with playgrounds in Garibaldi, Dereel and Haddon upgraded with funds from the first round of the LRCI Program, in addition to Council funding the upgrade of the Rokewood playground.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says the new Harrison Reserve Playground was a great asset for the local community.

“Golden Plains is home to 38 playgrounds spread across the Shire, and with the completion of the new Harrison Reserve Playground, Council has been pleased to complete upgrades at five of these this year.

“Children of a range of ages can now enjoy the brand-new playground with its birds nest swing, slide and various climbing options.

"The new playground provides Enfield families with a greatly improved community facility, and Council thanks the Australian Government for its funding commitment that made this upgrade possible.”

The playground at Linton Recreation Reserve, also funded by the LRCI Program is next on the upgrade list, with works planned to commence in early 2022.
