Don't miss a consultation with Engage

Media Release

Council has launched Engage, a new monthly e-newsletter, to keep residents informed on current consultations and community engagement opportunities.

This new initiative is part of Council’s commitment to community engagement and provides residents with information on all of Council’s current consultations and engagement opportunities, while also providing updates on previous consultations and projects.

Engage is distributed monthly to Council’s Community Engagement Register - a database of Golden Plains Shire community members who are interested in participating in community engagement opportunities. Residents are encouraged to join the Community Engagement Register to stay up-to-date with opportunities to engage.

The first edition of Engage featured opportunities for residents to have their say on the Draft Council Plan 2021-2025 and Draft Budget 2021-2022, Three Trails Project and the Review of Mayoral and Councillor Allowances, as well as updates on recently closed consultations.

Engage will support the Councillor engagement program for 2021, which includes the recently completed Coffee with your Councillor initiative, ongoing Councillor Conversation Posts and the Connecting Councillors and Community Groups program.

The Expression of Interest process for the Connecting Councillors and Community Groups program is open until Tuesday 1 June, 2021, and was included in the first edition of Engage.

Residents who wish to receive Engage can join the Community Engagement Register online at Council’s website: goldenplains.vic.gov.au/community-engagement-register.

Mayor Cr Helena Kirby encourages residents to sign up to the Community Engagement Register and stay up-to-date with Engage.

“Our Councillor group is committed to engaging directly with our communities and Engage is an exciting way for residents to stay up-to-date with all opportunities for them to have their say and speak with us directly.

“It’s so important for residents to have their say on the things that impact them and to know what happens to their feedback once a consultation closes. Engage is that one stop shop, where they can see all the current consultations and engagements and receive updates on previous ones.

“As a Councillor group, we hope Engage will encourage more residents to have their say and make the most of opportunities to speak with Councillors directly. We’ve already had great discussions with community members at the recent Coffee with your Councillor days and Councillor Conversation Posts, and we’re looking forward to meeting with community groups later in the year.”
