COVID-19 Restrictions Update: 27 July 2021

General

Today, the Victorian Government announced restrictions in Victoria, including Golden Plains Shire, will ease from 11.59pm tonight, Tuesday 27 July, 2021.

In line with these changes and remaining restrictions, Golden Plains Shire Council will implement a number of changes to its operations.

ESSENTIAL COUNCIL SERVICES

Council’s essential services will continue to operate including:

  • Kindergarten
  • Family Day Care
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Active Ageing & Inclusion Services
  • Outdoor Works (working on site)
  • Recycling and waste collection

COUNCIL’S FACILITIES

In line with the remaining restrictions, Council’s Customer Service Centres in Bannockburn and Smythesdale will reopen at 8.30am, Wednesday 28 July. Consultations will be available with staff, including from the Planning and Rates teams.

As per the restrictions, all visitors to a Customer Service Centre will need to wear a face mask, sign in using the QR codes, practice physical distancing and good hand hygiene. Hand sanitiser will be available at each Customer Service Centre.

Residents and ratepayers are still able to contact the Customer Service Centre over the phone, by email or through the Customer Service Portal on Council’s website.

Outdoor playgrounds remained open during the snap lockdown, and the Rokewood Transfer Station will reopen for its usual hours on Sunday 1 August.

The following Council facilities will reopen from Wednesday 28 July, subject to patron caps, density quotients and COVIDSafe requirements:

  • Indoor Sporting Facilities
  • Outdoor Sporting Facilities
  • Council’s Community Centres, including the Bannockburn Cultural Centre, The Well in Smythesdale and Meredith Community Centre.

Campgrounds remain closed.

COUNCIL EVENTS AND PROGRAMS

The following Council events and programs will go ahead, with COVIDSafe measures in place:

  • The Smythesdale Structure Plan community engagement session from 10am to 12pm on Saturday 31 July at The Well, Smythesdale.
  • The drop-in session for community groups considering applying for a Round Two Community Strengthening Grant scheduled for 5pm, Thursday 28 July at Inverleigh Public Hall, Inverleigh.
  • The Golden Plains Community Bus will begin its trial on Thursday 29 July.

With public gatherings to be limited to only 10 people, Council's weekly youth spaces, programs and activities will not run this week.

REMAINING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

From 11.59pm, Tuesday 27 July, residents in Golden Plains Shire will be able to leave their home again for any reason. There are a number of restrictions remaining in place for residents in Victoria.

Face coverings must be carried at all times and worn indoors and outdoors (except at home), or if you have an exemption.

Private gatherings are not permitted, and public gatherings are limited to 10 people.
