Community Strengthening Grants 2025
Community

Council’s Community Strengthening Grants Program returns in 2025, with applications open from Monday 1 August for local community groups.

Community Strengthening Grants provide a valuable opportunity for local community groups and organisations to deliver vital projects, activities and programs in Golden Plains Shire.

Community groups are invited to apply for grants of up to $7,000, available in three categories:

  • Healthy Connected Community
  • Community Inclusion
  • Environment and Sustainability

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the program had been delivering important funding for community projects and activities for more than 25 years.

“Council recognises the critical role grants play in strengthening our community by supporting local community groups and organisations to deliver worthwhile projects, programs and activities to the community,” Cr Sharkey said.

“I highly encourage eligible groups to contact Council’s Community Grants team and take the opportunity to apply for this funding to support your community initiative,” he said.

Grants will be awarded to eligible community organisations, sporting clubs and not-for-profit groups that demonstrate innovative ideas, promote inclusivity and social connection while also contributing to the overall wellbeing of residents in the shire’s vibrant communities.

Community groups are strongly encouraged to discuss their application with Council’s Community Grants team. Please enquire as soon as possible to allow adequate time to ensure your application meets requirements.

Groups must match the amount of funding sought in cash and/or through in-kind contributions (such as in-kind volunteer support) and Council will support community groups through the grant application and acquittal process.

Applications are open from Friday 1 August and close at 2pm, Monday 1 September 2025. For more information about Community Strengthening Grants, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/grants or contact Council’s Community Grants team at [email protected] or call 5220 7111.
