The 2022 Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey of Golden Plains Shire Council was formally received and noted at the Council meeting on 28 June. 

The survey featured feedback from 400 local residents across a range of age groups and locations and was conducted in early 2022. Council thanks all residents who participated and provided their valuable feedback. 

This year, Golden Plains Shire Council posted more favourable results in six Council performance categories, in comparison to the 2021 survey. These improved categories are: 

  • Customer Service
  • Waste Management
  • Consultation and Engagement
  • Lobbying on behalf of community
  • Decisions made in the interests of community
  • Value for money

Council’s results for Overall Performance and Council Direction were unchanged from 2021. 

The performance results of Golden Plains Shire Council are in contrast to declines in every category posted for the Large Rural Council and State averages, reflecting a drop in results across Victorian councils. 

In the 2022 survey, there was a drop in the results for two categories, in comparison to 2021: Sealed Local Roads and Unsealed Local Roads. This drop was reflected across the State, with the change in the Golden Plains Shire result less that the average for large rural councils in the category of Unsealed Roads and the same for Sealed Local Roads.

Every year, Local Government Victoria (LGV) coordinates the state-wide Local Government Community Satisfaction Survey. The main objectives of the survey are to assess the performance and services of Victorian councils across a range of measures and to seek insight on ways to provide improved or more efficient service delivery, as well as fulfilling the statutory reporting requirements of councils.
