Golden Plains Shire Council will host a range of free activities for families, carers and children in celebration of Children’s Week from Monday 20 October to Friday 24 October 2025.

Children’s Week is a national celebration that recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children. To celebrate Children’s Week, Council will be hosting an Intergenerational Recycled Art and Craft session on:

  • Tuesday 21 October from 10.30 to 11.30am at the Bannockburn Library

Facilitated by Firefly Wellbeing, these activities will provide families, carers and children the opportunity to craft a windchime that sings for child rights.

Council’s Children’s Services team will also be running activities at the Golden Plains Mobile Library on:

  • Thursday 23 October
    - Meredith from 9.00 to 10.30am
    - Rokewood from 11.40am to 1pm
    - Dereel from 2.15 to 3pm
  • Friday 24 October
    - Linton from 1.30 to 2.45pm
    - Cape Clear from 3.15 to 4pm

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey invites families and children from across the Shire to participate in the family-friendly activities.

The Children’s Week events are presented by Golden Plains Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Government.
