Building mateship at the Linton Men’s Shed

On 29 August 2018, Jenny Mikakos MP, Minister for Families and Children, joined Michaela Settle, Buninyong Labor candidate, Cr Kirby, Golden Plains Mayor, and the Linton community to announce vital funding for the construction of the new Linton Men’s Shed.

Moving from a resident’s garage to a new space, the existing shed will be retired and a new shed built, providing a safe and productive space for men to work on common projects, form friendships and give back to their community.

This year’s Men’s Shed Funding Program grant round had an emphasis on supporting Aboriginal men and those from regional areas. Men’s shed groups from across the state applied for funding, and Linton was successful (congratulations to the Linton Men’s Shed crew!).

Jenny Mikakos was delighted to make the announcement, saying, “Men’s sheds are a wonderful part of the Victorian landscape – and we’re building and upgrading more of them so more Victorians can benefit.”

“It’s about giving men a chance to come together, give back to the community and talk or learn about what matters to them,” she said.

Council looks forward to the construction of the new shed and hearing about some of the great projects that come out of it.
