Golden Plains Shire Council adopted the Asset Plan 2025-2035 (the Plan) at its meeting on 28 October 2025.

The Plan details the extent of the Shire’s assets, from roads and buildings to drainage and community facilities. It also sets out how Council plans to invest in and maintain these assets to meet the current and future needs of the community.

The Plan is designed to align with the Council Plan 2025-2029 and Council’s Community Vision, ensuring that long-term investment decisions support local liveability, safety, and sustainability.

Community members were invited to contribute to the development of the Asset Plan and other integrated plans through a range of deliberative engagement activities in late 2024 and early 2025. The draft Asset Plan was placed on a period of public exhibition in August and September 2025.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey says the Asset Plan is a fundamental Plan that will help Council implement a coordinated approach to the management of all assets.

Council’s infrastructure assets include roads, buildings, drainage, open spaces, and leisure and community assets. It is crucial we get the management of these assets right to ensure the delivery of essential services and to enhance the quality of life for residents, Cr Sharkey said.

The Plan includes how Council will invest in infrastructure assets now and into the future by ensuring that asset renewal, upgrades and maintenance programs are financially sustainable over the long-term. The Plan incorporates the impact of projected growth over the next 10 years.
