Golden Plains Shire Council is thrilled to deliver two free accredited training courses for young people across the Shire as part of our Spring Holiday Activity Program.
Led by experienced facilitators, the courses include Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) and Safe Food & handling. The training courses will equip participants with the necessary skills, knowledge and certification to work safely and legally in relevant hospitality and service roles, helping them to become more ‘work ready.’
Young people aged 14 to 25 are invited to come along to:
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) on Thursday 25 September from 10am to 4pm at The Well, Smythesdale.
- Safe Food & Handling on Thursday 2 October from 10am to 2pm at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Bannockburn.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey encouraged young people in the community to register for the courses.
Given recent successes with the Golden Plains Careers Expo and Industry Nights, we’re thrilled to offer these training courses to young people in the community to support them in becoming more work ready, Cr Sharkey said.
We know it can be difficult to access support and build skills to enter the workforce in regional areas, and we hope these courses give young people the best chance in their employment goals.
The Accredited Training Courses are part of our Work Readiness Program under the Victorian Government’s Engage! Initiative.
To register for the courses, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/holiday-activity-program. Registrations available through Eventbrite from 7pm on Monday 1 September 2025. Refreshments will be provided for the RSA training.
Registered participants will need to provide a Unique Student Identifier number prior to the courses.
The RSA certification obtained by 14 to 17-year-olds cannot be applied in the workplace until they reach the legal age of 18.
