The 2025 round of Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants has been awarded to six community groups who will share in a combined $88,249 over the next three years to help deliver a range of community projects and events.
The funding was available across two categories: Economic Development Projects and Tourism Projects, with one year and multi-year funding available for each category.
The successful community projects and events included:
- Haddon Fire Brigade, Country Fire Authority (CFA) – $12,000 total to support the Haddon Fire Brigade LED sign repair/replacement project.
- Golden Plains Soccer Club Inc – $17,924 to support the Golden Plains Soccer Club rejuvenation project.
- Turtle Bend Committee Inc. – $15,000 over the next three years to support the annual Teesdale Christmas Market and Carols event.
- Camp4Cancer Geelong – $11,700 to support the camping event in Murgheboluc which assists the Andrew Love Cancer Centre.
- Woady Yaloak Historical Society – $13,000 to support the Smythesdale Historic Police Precinct Upgrade.
- Zineverleigh – $18,625 over the next three years to support the annual Exhibition of Tiny Art in Inverleigh.
Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Owen Sharkey said the projects awarded in the 2025 round of the Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants program would strengthen and celebrate local communities.
This ongoing program continues to deliver vital funds for community events and projects which bring communities together. We thank Berrybank Wind Farm for its ongoing support to the local community, Cr Sharkey said.
We look forward to these projects delivering numerous benefits to their communities through increased access to arts and culture, improved amenity to public spaces and increased physical activity, he said.
Delivered in partnership with Berrybank Wind Farm, the Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Program provides crucial funding opportunities to support local events and projects in Golden Plains. Applications were open from 1 May until 2 June 2025.
The Berrybank Wind Farm Community Grants Committee, comprising representatives from Berrybank Wind Farm, Golden Plains Shire Council and local community members, advises on grant criteria, evaluates applications and recommends project for Council support.
There will be a minimum of one round of application opportunities each year and funding will be made available over the 15-year term of the agreement between Council and Berrybank Wind Farm.
