Youth Hub Set to Host More Young People

The Golden Plains Youth Hub is set to be upgraded to accommodate more young people following a successful first year with strong attendance for youth programs and activities at the venue.

The Youth Hub will be temporarily closed from Monday 22 May until the end of June to allow for minor facility upgrade works so more people can be accommodated on site. Council’s Youth Development team will be running a range of online and in-person activities at other venues to support young people in the community during the closure.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said running alternate programs to keep young people engaged and connected was important during the closure.

We will be providing a robust and accessible schedule of youth programs during the closure to ensure that young people can continue to engage with their peers and youth mentors for social and emotional support.

Most programs will be available online or at an alternate venue within the Shire, and we are aiming to increase access to youth activities by trialling programs in different locations.

The upgrade works at the Youth Hub will increase capacity at the venue and allow Council to run programs with bigger groups to make us future ready as the Shire’s population continues to grow.

A full list of alternate programs and venues will be available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au.
