Golden Plains Shire Council provides sharps collection and disposal services, free to all residents, to ensure that needles and syringes are disposed of safely.
Sharps Containers
Council offers free sharps containers to all residents, to dispose of used needles and syringes. You can pick up a container from our Smythesdale and Bannockburn Customer Hubs.
Containers are available in two sizes, 4 litres and 1.4 litres.
Sharps Container Disposal
Once a container is full and properly sealed, it can be dropped off to one of Council’s disposal units outside of the Smythesdale and Bannockburn Customer Hubs. These units can be accessed 24/7.
Residents are asked to ensure that their needles and syringes are secured safely in a sharps container and placed carefully down the chute.
