Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting emerging leaders to be the difference in the community and make a positive impact on young people by joining the Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee (YAC).

The YAC provides young people an opportunity to have a voice in Golden Plains Shire and to advocate for themselves and other young people while developing their leadership skills.

Young people aged 12 to 25 years of age who live, work, study or play in Golden Plains Shire are invited to join the committee and provide valuable insights into the needs, opinions, strengths, and challenges of young people across Golden Plains.

Meeting weekly at the Golden Plains Youth Hub on Tuesday afternoons, the committee members will provide feedback on youth events and programs and will also have the opportunity to work on exciting new projects, ensuring the voice of young people is strongly represented in their development and execution.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged Golden Plains youth to join the Youth Activation Committee and be a representative for young people in the Shire.

“The Golden Plains Youth Activation Committee is a fantastic program for emerging leaders in the community to build their leadership capabilities and support other young people in Golden Plains.

“Council is committed to providing a range of inclusive, innovative and accessible programs to allow for young people within the Shire to build capacity and learn new skills.

“We look forward to hearing from the young people who are interested in joining the Youth Activation Committee and are eager to support them to be the difference in the community and to advocate for themselves and other young people in the Shire.”
