Weather Update: Road Closures

Weather Update

Recent and continuing heavy rainfall has caused flooding, affecting roads throughout Golden Plains Shire. Roads across the Shire are impacted and Council staff are working to clear roads and install signage where possible.

All residents are reminded not to drive, walk or ride through flood waters and are encouraged to drive with caution as they travel through the Shire.

Due to flood waters, the following roads are closed:

  • Perdrisat Road, Maude
  • Bells Road, Smythes Creek
  • Ballarat-Carngham Rd, Carngham – near Burrumbeet-Hillcrest Road
  • Sebastopol-Smythesdale Road, Smythesdale
  • Whites Road, Smythesdale
  • Galatea Road, Scarsdale
  • Devil's Kitchen Bridge, Pigoreet Road
  • Glen Avon Drive, Bannockburn (partial closure)
  • Ferrars Street, Rokewood
  • Inverleigh-Shelford Road, Shelford
  • Rokewood-Shelford Rd
  • Hamilton Highway, Murghebuloc
  • Hamilton Highway - from Inverleigh to Cressy
  • Bannockburn-Shelford Road - from Rokewood-Shelford Road to Meredith-Shelford Road
  • Winchelsea-Inverleigh Road
  • Linton-Piggoreet Road
  • Haddon-Windermere Road - Ballarat-Carngham Road to Kopkes Road
  • Glenelg Highway - Bells Road to Ross Creek-Haddon Road

There is water over road the following roads:

  • Glenelg Highway, Smythes Creek
  • Glenelg Highway, Linton
  • Shelford-My Mercer Road
  • Barker Street, Teesdale
  • Fyansford-Geringhap Road
  • Colac-Ballarat Road - between Napoleons and Enfield
  • Golden Lakes Road
  • Pigoreet Road
  • Scotchmans Lead Road, Napoleons
  • Spratlings/Nicholls Road, Ross Creek
  • Tom Jones Road, Ross Creek
  • Laceys Road, Ross Creek
  • Midland Highway
  • Steiglitz Road
  • Bakers Bridge Road
  • Russell Street, Teesdale
  • Tolson Street, Teesdale
  • Barker Street, Teesdale
  • Stones Road, Teesdale
  • Meredith-Mt Mercer Road 
  • Scarsdale-Pitfield Road

This list includes the roads that have currently been identified as flooded, it is not a complete list, many roads across the Shire are impacted and Council is working to identify and provide signage. Updates will continue to be provided as more information is gathered. 

Residents are encouraged to avoid travel where possible and please take caution as they drive through the Shire.
