Upcoming Tree Safety Removal In Meredith

Media Release
Meredith

Four aged Monterey Cypress trees in Meredith will be removed before Christmas to keep the community safe.

The trees at 76 McLeod Street have been identified as dead or at risk of limb failure and require removal, following assessment by Council’s Arboriculture Specialist. The trunk from a tree that had previously collapsed at the same site will also be removed.

Works to remove the McLeod Street trees will begin on Monday 20 December and conclude by Friday 24 December. Traffic control measures will be in place on McLeod Street during these dates.

Following the removal of the trees, mulch from the trees will be available for local residents to collect for free at the Meredith Cricket and Recreation Reserve. Firewood will also be free for collection by local residents at the tree removal sites on McLeod Street, available for pick up each day of works from 4pm.

Council has sent letters to residents near McLeod Street in preparation for the tree removal.

A map showing the location of the four trees to be removed is available on this page below.

In 2022, Council will prepare a Tree Succession Plan for Meredith, with the community encouraged to take part in consultation next year.
