Council awarded two tenders at its December Council meeting which will progress exciting sport and recreation projects in Bannockburn.

Council awarded the contract for $843,000 to Independent Concrete Constructions Pty Ltd to undertake the construction of the Bannockburn Skate Bowl and supporting infrastructure located within Victoria Park Recreation Reserve, Bannockburn. This project is co-funded by a Victorian Government Growing Suburbs Fund contribution of $805,000.

Council also awarded a $904,000 contract to Bowden Corp Pty Ltd to undertake the construction of a new Netball Pavilion at Victoria Park Recreation Reserve. The $1.79 million project is co-funded by a Sport and Recreation Victoria grant and Federal Government commitments and will include a second stage of works to complete Female Friendly Changeroom refurbishments to the football facilities.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the Skate Bowl and new Netball Pavilion would enhance the infrastructure at the site, while encouraging people to engage in healthy and active activities.

These projects will deliver dynamic recreational and social spaces that meets the need of a rapidly growing community and are consistent with the vison, planning principles and recommendations of the Sport and Active Recreation Strategy 2020-2030,” Cr Cunningham said.

These works align with Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthy living and physical activity while also encouraging gender equity and support participation for girls and women.

Construction on both projects is projected to commence from February 2024.
