The Teesdale and Napoleons Tennis Courts are set to receive a revamp, with works to commence this month at both facilities.

Works to improve drainage issues will commence this week at the tennis courts at Don Wallace Reserve, 1175-1185 Shelford-Bannockburn Road, Teesdale, and will last for four to five weeks, with completion expected in mid-September.

The $60,750 project is funded by Council and will include the upgrade of court one at the Teesdale location, with works to include the installation of a new black powder coated chain wire mesh on the western alignment of the courts, alongside the creation of a concrete spoon drain to remove existing drainage issues. Surrounding concrete and drainage works will also be completed as part of the upgrade.

Court one will be closed for the duration of the works, with the remaining five courts available for community use.

Some of the fencing at the tennis courts at Napoleons Recreation Reserve, 4706 Colac-Ballarat Road, which has reached the end of its life will also be upgraded, ensuring the courts will continue to provide a home for competitive and recreational sport in the township.

The $46,500 fencing project is also funded by Council and will include the replacement of old fencing along courts one and two, with both courts as well as court three to be closed for the entirety of the works. The works are expected to begin in mid-September.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says Council is happy to be supporting local tennis players with upgrades in Teesdale and Napoleons.

Council is pleased to deliver these upgrades, which will improve the quality and conditions of the two facilities and support our local clubs, players and residents who enjoy playing tennis.

With a range of fencing, and drainage improvement works, these projects will create a better experience for all users and help encourage more residents to stay active and engaged.
