Golden Plains Shire Council is hosting a series of activities for young people aged 12 to 25 years throughout the Summer School Holidays, with activities running from Tuesday 10 January to Wednesday 25 January, 2023.
The free school holiday activities held across the Shire have been designed to meet the needs and interests of young people, whilst providing platforms to learn new skills and build capacity.
The full list of school holiday activities available are:
- Tuesday 10 January, 9 to 10am – Introduction to Smart Phone Photography at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Tuesday 10 January, 10.30 to 11.30am – Photography Basics for DLSR at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Wednesday 11 January, 12.30 to 3.30pm – Into to Robotics at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Wednesday 11 January, 2 to 4pm – DIY Flower Arranging and Afternoon Tea at the Inverleigh Public Hall, 71 High Street, Inverleigh
- Thursday 12 January, 8.30am to 2.30pm – Golden Plains Picnic & Hike beginning at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Tuesday 17 January, 9 to 10am – Smart Phone Portrait Basics (BYO Device) at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Tuesday 17 January, 10.30 to 11.30am – DSLR Portrait Basics (BYO Device) at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street, Bannockburn
- Tuesday 17 January, 2 to 4pm – Cookie Making at the Teesdale Community Hall, 1109 Bannockburn-Shelford Road, Teesdale
- Wednesday 18 January, 12.30 to 3.30pm – Intro to Robotics at the Haddon Community Learning Centre, 396 Sago Hill Road, Haddon
- Thursday 19 January, 9.30am to 2.30pm – Jan Juc Excursion beginning at the Golden Plains Youth Hub, Milton Street Bannockburn
- Tuesday 24 January, 11am to 1pm – Cupcake Decorating at the Inverleigh Public Hall, 71 High Street, Inverleigh
- Tuesday 24 January, 12.30 to 1.30pm – Smart Phone Food Photography Basics (BYO Device) at the Inverleigh Public Hall, 71 High Street, Inverleigh
- Wednesday 25 January, 1 to 4pm – 3-on-3 Social Basketball at the YMCA Bannockburn, 132 Milton Street, Bannockburn
Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged young people to get involved in the free summer school holiday activities on offer throughout the Shire.
Council’s School Holiday activities are an excellent opportunity for Golden Plains youth to learn new skills and connect with other likeminded young people from within the Shire. These free activities combine fun options with practical training to equip young people with professional skills for the future.
