Stubble Burning Set To Begin

Environment

The Country Fire Authority has advised that from today, Monday 1 March, landowners can commence stubble burning for agricultural purposes after securing a permit through the Fire Permits Victoria website. Residents may see more smoke in the air.

Residents in Golden Plains can use the portal to:

  • Check if they need a fire permit
  • Apply for a fire permit
  • Notify authorities that they are using a permit
  • Register a burn-off when restrictions are not in place

Since late 2019, Council no longer issues permits for stubble burning during the Fire Danger Period, with the CFA now handling the process. For more information on stubble burning permits, visit the Fire Permits Victoria website by clicking the link below:

The Fire Danger Period is still in effect for Golden Plains Shire, and there are still a number of restrictions that residents must follow. To find out what you can and can’t do during the Fire Danger Period, visit the CFA’s website.
