Shaping Our Future Together: Council Plan 2025-2029, Financial Plan & Asset Plan

Shaping Our Future Together
Strategies & Plans

Golden Plains Shire Council is inviting the community and key stakeholders to help shape the future by participating in the development of the next Council Plan 2025-2029.

As we plan for the next four years, community members are invited to help shape our future together and provide input into the development of the Council Plan 2025-2029, which will be vital in guiding our decisions and setting priorities that reflect the needs and aspirations of our residents.

The Council Plan 2025-2029 is aligned with the Community Vision 2040, Asset Plan and Financial Plan. The Municipal Health and Wellbeing Plan will be embedded in this new Council Plan, ensuring the health and wellbeing of our community remains at the forefront of our priorities.

Community engagement is at the heart of shaping this important document. Through an extensive deliberative engagement process, across a broad cross-section of the community all ratepayers, business owners and stakeholders are invited to provide their input. This will ensure that the voices of our community are brought to Council and will help shape the direction of the Council Plan 2025-2029.

Community members will have the opportunity to contribute through an online Have You Say survey and by attending a number of engagement activities.  Activities include participating in Community Thinktank Sessions where community members can come together to harness collective knowledge and discuss ideas for the next Council Plan. Additionally, Council staff will hold conversations with key community groups and attend pop-up sessions at local community events during December. Community Thinktank Sessions will take place during November.

Council will then prepare a What We Heard report, summarising the feedback provided by the community at the end of January 2025.  Registrations to attend the Thinktank Sessions will be required and can be made by calling 5220 7111 or emailing [email protected]

Golden Plains Shire Council CEO Shane Walden said we are asking our community to share their views, thoughts, aspirations, and visions for the future of Golden Plains Shire and its relationship with surrounding areas.

“Whilst the Community Plan 2025-2029 is a legislative requirement, this is secondary to Council wanting to understand the current community aspirations,” Mr Walden said.

“We want to reach all sections of our community through this engagement process to ensure the Council Plan 2025-2029 captures the community aspirations and guides the key actions that will drive progress in the Golden Plains Shire over the next four years,” he said.

The Have Your Say survey opens on Monday 4 November 2024 and closes on Friday 29 November 2024. The survey can be completed online at, goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations or hard copies can be collected from Council’s Customer Hubs at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn or The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
