Postponed: Youth Art Program

Youth Art Program Postponed
Youth

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Council’s new Youth Art Program scheduled to begin at The Well in Smythesdale on Saturday 16 July will be postponed by one week.

The Program will now begin on Saturday 23 July from 9am to 12pm and run weekly on Saturdays for four weeks.

As part of the free Youth Art Program participants will be guided by local artist, advocate and volunteer, Barry Wemyss, in the creation of their own ‘art book’ as an expression of their own vision and interpretation of what art can be. Participants will also create a ‘wall hung’ art piece to be displayed in an exhibition that will officially close the Program.

Barry is a passionate and vocal advocate for the arts and has been a member of the Strategy Community Reference Group, contributing to the development of Council’s Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy. Barry has facilitated art programs across the community, including in school programs with great success.

Registrations are open for the program and young people aged 12 to 25 interested in participating are encouraged to contact Council’s Youth Development team at [email protected] or 5220 7111 to register.
