Golden Plains Shire Council has again partnered with VicRoads and Hawthorn Community House to deliver another round of the Wiser Driver Program in April.

Wiser Diver is an informative, informal and friendly refresher course to upgrade knowledge and build on experience to help older drivers drive safely.

Topics covered throughout the sessions include: driving today, safety tips for wiser driving, safety rules, car safety features, being roadworthy and planning for the future.

The four Wiser Driver sessions will run each Monday from 1 to 3pm beginning on Monday 8 April and concluding on Monday 29 April. The sessions will be hosted at the Bannockburn Family Services Centre, 2A Pope Street, Bannockburn and all sessions must be attended to complete the program.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the Wiser Driver program was an excellent way for Seniors to refresh their road knowledge and focus on improving their driving skills.

“Wiser Driver is a popular program presented in an informative and welcoming way which really helps senior members of our community with their road safety knowledge,” Cr Cunningham said.

“I encourage seniors from all across the Shire who may feel they need to refresh their road safety knowledge to participate in Wiser Driver and experience an exciting program that promotes safe and responsible driving.”

Participants in the program will also receive a range of resources from VicRoads to assist with the course.

To register for the sessions, contact Council’s Active Ageing and Inclusion Team on [email protected] or call 5220 7111.
