A New Playground for Linton

The Linton Recreation Reserve Playground is back open for local children to enjoy following its recent upgrade.

The new playground at the Linton Recreation Reserve has opened following the removal of the old playground and construction works over the past two months.

Complete with a bird nest swing set, slide, dynamic climbing features, monkey bars and natural play elements, the new playground will appeal to children of a range of ages. The upgrade also includes new soft-fall material and the installation of perimeter edging.

The $213,064 replacement of the existing facility with the brand-new playground was funded by $153,064 contribution from Council and $60,000 from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program. The Linton playground is the fifth playground to be upgraded with funds from the LRCI Program, following playgrounds in Enfield, Garibaldi, Dereel and Haddon upgraded in 2021. As part of the playground upgrade program, Council also funded the upgrade of the Rokewood playground last year.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says the new Linton Recreation Reserve Playground is a great asset for the local community.

“Council is pleased to have delivered upgrades to six playgrounds across the Shire over the last 18 months.

“The brand-new playground at Linton Recreation Reserve provides a safe facility for children of all ages with its various climbing options, birds nest swing and natural play elements. The upgrade complements the recent cricket nets upgrade at the Linton Recreation Reserve.

“The new playground provides children and families in Linton with a greatly improved community facility, and Council thanks the Australian Government for its funding commitment that made this new playground, and recent upgrades in Dereel, Haddon, Garibaldi and Enfield, possible.”
