Local Law Review: The Facts

General

Golden Plains Shire Council has committed to reviewing its Local Law No. 2 and will undertake a full community engagement process, welcoming feedback and ideas to update the law.

Unfortunately, a local community newsletter recently published an article stating that this review is now underway and that submissions can be made now. This information is not correct and did not come from Council. We appreciate that this has caused confusion among residents and prompted calls and emails to Council’s Customer Service and Community Safety teams.

In truth, Council resolved at its Ordinary Meeting on 23 June to commence the proceedings to review the Local Law No.2. At its August Ordinary Meeting, Council will consider the next steps of the review that will be completed over the next few months, with community consultation expected to start in late August 2020.

During this full review process, Council looks forward to hearing from all residents with views and opinions on the Local Law No. 2.

All information on the Local Laws Review and opportunities to have your say will be available on Council’s website, social media, Geelong Advertiser, Ballarat Courier and the Council News page in the Golden Plains Times.
