Enrolments are open for three- and four-year-old funded sessional kindergarten in 2023 at Council’s services in Bannockburn, Inverleigh, Meredith, Rokewood and Teesdale

Kindergarten services help to prepare children for the transition to school and it is strongly recommended that children attend kindergarten for two years of early learning before they start school. Victoria is the only state or territory in Australia to fund two years of kindergarten programs before school.

In 2023, children across Golden Plains will be able to access 15 hours a week of funded three-year-old kindergarten at services operated by Golden Plains Shire Council. Four-year-old kindergarten programs will continue to offer 15-hours of funded programming a week.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble encouraged parents to take advantage of the additional hours of funded sessional kindergarten available at the Council-operated locations across the Shire.

In 2023, parents across Golden Plains can access 15 hours of funded three-year-old kindergarten each week for their children in addition to the funded 15-hour programs available at Council’s four-year-old kindergarten services.

Council’s kindergarten services offer a quality early education program to help you prepare your child for school and it is recommended that children attend both three- and four-year-old kindergarten to set them up for educational success.

To enrol at a Golden Plains Shire Council service, visit goldenplains.vic.gov.au/kindergarten and follow the instructions on how to create an account and complete the enrolment.

Program hours vary from service to service, dependant on factors such as available workforce, infrastructure capacity and community preferences.

Kindergarten services operated by Eureka Community Kindergarten Association (ECKA) at Woady Yaloak Kindergarten in Scarsdale and Haddon Kindergarten also offer 15 hours of funded three- and four-year-old kindergarten starting in 2023.

Council plays an important advocacy role across the early years sector and promotes the importance of accessing funded kindergarten either in sessional or childcare settings. Private childcare providers offering funded kindergarten in Bannockburn in 2023 include Bright Minds, Kardinia Early Learning Bannockburn and Happy Feet.
