The Inverleigh Club Rooms Upgrade was officially opened at the first Inverleigh Hawks home game of the season on Saturday 2 April.

Senator for Victoria Sarah Henderson officially opened the upgrade prior to the senior’s football game at the Inverleigh Sporting Complex, joined by Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble and Inverleigh Football Netball Club President David Haste. Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker and Liberal candidate Stephanie Asher were also in attendance at the opening.

The existing club rooms at the Inverleigh Sporting Complex have been upgraded for the Inverleigh Football Netball Club and the Inverleigh community. The project has delivered a new social space, upgraded kitchen and canteen, bar and amenities. The $500,000 upgrade project was fully funded by the Australian Government.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble says the upgraded club rooms are an asset for Inverleigh and the surrounding district.

“The new and improved club rooms at the Inverleigh Sporting Complex will provide better facilities for the Inverleigh Football Netball Club and increased opportunities for community activation for all user groups in Inverleigh, including for events such as the Dachshund Derby.

“The upgraded club rooms complement a list of projects that have been delivered at Inverleigh Sporting Complex over the past few years including the new netball courts opened last year, the oval lighting, and the almost-completed female friendly change rooms.

“Congratulations to the club and community, in this growing town, for the hard work behind this achievenent and the estblishment of an u/12 girls team. It was a great crowd at the first home game of the Inverleigh Hawks. The standard was really impressive as they got the better of the Werribbe Centrals.

"On behalf of Council, we wish the Inverleigh club and all the local football and netball clubs in Golden Plains Shire a successful season.”
