Improving Our Shire – Haddon Recreation Reserve Works

Golden Plains Shire Council is delivering a new automated irrigation system at Haddon Recreation Reserve which will enhance the oval’s playing surface and durability.

The new water-efficient irrigation system is fully funded by Council and will replace the outdated existing system. Council has engaged with local stakeholders on the project to ensure minimal disruption to user groups including the Committee of Management, Athletics Club, Cricket Club, Haddon Primary School and Auskick.

As a regular user of the oval, Haddon Primary School students will benefit from the system which will ensure the surface remains consistently watered and maintained in good condition for year-round use.

In preparation for works a safety fence will be installed around the oval next week, however Haddon Primary School students will continue to access the oval until the Easter school holidays begin on Friday 7 April.

Work to install the irrigation system is scheduled to start on 11 April and it's anticipated that works on the oval will be completed by the end of the Easter school holidays. Students and the general public are expected to regain access to the oval following the completion of the school holiday period, while other minor works on the tank and supporting irrigation infrastructure are still being completed.

Council is working on a range of Community Infrastructure projects across the Shire to support local schools, community groups and sporting organisations.
