Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking residents and visitors’ input to develop a site plan for Teesdale Turtle Bend Reserve. This is an opportunity to celebrate the unique features of this highly valued community site and plan for its future use.

Features of the Teesdale Turtle Bend Reserve currently include two playgrounds, seating, active youth space including half court for netball and basketball, skate park, BMX track, walking paths and a large open space grassed area. The reserve also features a BBQ, shelter and turtle shaped rotunda/stage, pedestrian bridge and toilets amenities including an accessible toilet and baby change facility.

Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said the continued development of Teesdale Turtle Bend Reserve would ensure the space remained a popular destination for locals and visitors.

Teesdale Turtle Bend is a popular recreation and events precinct that is a valuable social meeting space for the Teesdale community and attracts visitors from across Victoria. Community events that currently call Turtle Bend home include the Teesdale Twilight Market and Carols, Live@Turtle Bend Music Festival and the Teesdale Community Harvest Markets,” Cr Cunningham said.

We are keen to hear your ideas and gain an understanding of what works, doesn't work and if the area can be improved. Council aims to ensure the space continues to foster community building and social connection through promotion of recreation and social activities into the future,” he said.

The Teesdale Turtle Bend Recreation and Events Space engagement is open from Monday 22 January to Monday 19 February 2024. Local residents and visitors are encouraged to share their ideas about the space by visiting goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations to complete an online survey or make a written submission.

Input provided by local residents, community, user groups and visitors will be used to inform the Teesdale Turtle Bend Recreation and Events Space Concept Design Plan, which is expected to be presented to Council in mid-2024.
