GREAT NEWS FOR LINTON

Community

As a part of our extensive advocacy and lobbying calendar, Golden Plains Shire Council has been working with local Members of Parliament to identify priority projects in each electorate.

Golden Plains Shire Council  is pleased to acknowledge news that the State Government is investing $255,000 to upgrade sports oval lighting at the Linton Recreation Reserve. This project will allow sports teams such as Carngham-Linton Football Netball Club and Linton Cricket Club to increase participation in sport and see the Linton oval lighting brought up to the AFL Victoria minimum guidelines for training and night matches.

The funding will be provided through $60 million in the Victorian Budget 2018/19 for community sporting grants as part of a $241.6 million boost for women's and community sport.

Geoff Howard MP, Member for Buninyong, said the upgrade will give Linton sporting groups the facilities they need to train, compete and attract more members.

“We’re upgrading local grounds, change rooms and pavilions right across Victoria so everyone has the facilities they need to play and watch the sport they love,” he said.

Council welcomes this news and encourages all local sporting groups to seek external funding such as this to improve community facilities throughout Golden Plains Shire.
