Major Projects

The Golden Plains Wind Farm has recently commenced construction, beginning with Stage One: Golden Plains Wind Farm East.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm is set to be one of the largest wind farms in the Southern Hemisphere, with a revised 215 wind turbines to be built in the area around Rokewood. The Golden Plains Wind Farm will be the largest development ever undertaken in Golden Plains, delivering significant economic outcomes to the community and the region, particularly in terms of job creation and infrastructure development.

With over 15 years in the making, the project will help deliver clean energy to over approximately 500,000 homes.

Local residents will also benefit from a number of road improvements, with 25km upgrades to local road and 7 intersections as part of the project.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm project will deliver a number of benefits for the Rokewood community and across the Shire.

The Golden Plains Wind Farm Project supports Council’s vision for the Shire in strategically positioning itself as a regional area of growth and shows how we can all embrace clean energy practices for the future.
