At its meeting last night (Tuesday 23 August), Council endorsed the reappointment of Eric Braslis as Chief Executive Officer to 30 June 2027

Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble said that Mr Braslis is an experienced and dedicated leader who has led Council and the organisation through a busy and challenging period of change and growth.

Over the past five years, CEO Braslis has guided Council through a significant transformation, bringing the staff, Councillors, facilities and organisation on an important journey to better serve our fast-growing peri-urban Shire.

During his tenure, Eric has secured record government funding year-on year and strengthened the reputation and understanding of Golden Plains Shire across Victoria. His leadership and support during the COVID-19 pandemic was greatly valued by Council, staff and local people and businesses, ensuring stability through a rapidly-changing situation.

Council is committed to delivering on our Council Plan 2021-2025 and the ambitious goals of the Golden Plains Shire Community Vision 2040. As we navigate significant population growth and recover from the pandemic, Eric will continue to lead the organisation with dedication, experience and success over the coming years.

CEO Eric Braslis confirmed his commitment to the organisation and the Golden Plains Shire community.

Golden Plains Shire is a special place to live, work and visit, with residents who value and care about their communities. On the doorstep of Geelong and Ballarat, the Shire is growing quickly and Council plays a critical role in preserving the local lifestyle for existing residents, as well as those new residents we are welcoming to Golden Plains.

I’m keenly aware of the serious responsibility and privilege of being the CEO of Golden Plains Shire Council. I will continue to lead an organisation that strategically plans for the future, takes great pride in serving the residents of our Shire and strongly advocates for quality infrastructure, projects, programs and services in Golden Plains.

I appreciate Council’s support for my continued leadership, the dedicated Council staff and the positive direction of the organisation. I am proud and energised to continue working hard for the people and communities of Golden Plains.

The CEO’s current contract term was to December 2022, with the new contract of 4.5 years extending Mr Braslis’s tenure to mid-2027.

Mr Braslis was appointed as Council’s CEO in December 2017, bringing more than 30 years’ local government experience to the role. Prior to leading Golden Plains, he was the CEO of Gannawarra Shire Council and previously held senior executive positions at City of Ballarat, Stonnington City Council and Hobsons Bay City Council.
