In partnership with Council, Geelong Regional Libraries provides residents with a fantastic mobile library service which visits nine townships across Golden Plains Shire each week. 

The mobile library is stocked with a variety of books, audiobooks, DVDs and magazines. Residents can also access any of Geelong Regional Libraries’ 400,000 library items by requesting a hold through the online catalogue and then collecting from the most convenient mobile library stop in the Shire. 

The Golden Plains mobile library visits the following townships: 

  • Cape Clear – Fridays from 3.15 to 4pm, Pitfield-Scarsdale Road (opposite Post Office), Cape Clear
  • Dereel – Thursdays (except last of month) from 2.15 to 3pm, Dereel Community Hall, 14 Swamp Road, Dereel
  • Enfield – Thursdays from 3.30 to 4.30pm, Little Hard Hills Hotel, 5130 Colac-Ballarat Road, Enfield 
  • Grenville – Last Thursday of the month from 2.15 to 3pm, Grenville Community Hall, Buninyong-Mt Mercer Road, Grenville 
  • Haddon – Fridays from 9 to 10am, Haddon Community House, 396 Sago Hill Road, Haddon 
  • Linton – Fridays from 1.30 to 2.45pm, Linton Skate Park (opposite Post Office), Glenelg Highway, Linton
  • Meredith – Thursdays from 9 to 10.30am, Meredith Community Centre, 4 Russell Street, Meredith 
  • Rokewood – Thursdays from 11.45am to 1pm, Police Station, 54 Ferrars Street, Rokewood
  • Smythesdale – Fridays from 10.30am to 12pm and the third Saturday of the month from 9am to 12pm, The Well, 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale 

The mobile library is wheelchair accessible, with staff available to help residents with any library services on offer. A downloadable copy of the mobile library timetable is available here

Golden Plains Shire Council also provides residents with a permanent library located at 27 High Street, Bannockburn. The Bannockburn Library offers a full range of public library services and collections to the general community.
