Council welcomes the State Government’s $1.1 million funding commitment to the new Bannockburn Netball Pavilion at Victoria Park.

Minister for Higher Education, Training and Skills Gayle Tierney and Member for Geelong Christine Couzens made the funding announcement on Thursday 2 June, joined by Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Gavin Gamble; and Bannockburn Football Netball Club (BFNC) President Scott Penning, Netball Operations Manager Andrew Osborne, BFNC life member and netball coach Kath Bourke and netball player, Lucinda Bubb. Deputy Mayor Cr Helena Kirby and Councillors Brett Cunningham, Ian Getsom, Les Rowe and Owen Sharkey also attended the announcement at Victoria Park.

The $1.1 million commitment, funded in the Victorian Government’s 2022/23 Budget, will be paired with $690,000, which was promised by the Federal Government during the recent election campaign, to fully fund the pavilion project.

Council and BFNC have advocated for the new pavilion, which will feature female friendly change rooms, a social indoor space, public toilets, team and umpire change rooms, first aid and office areas. The pavilion will support current and future participation at the growing netball club, meeting demand in Bannockburn and surrounding towns of Golden Plains Shire.
