Golden Plains Shire Council welcomes an election funding announcement from the Australian Labor Party of $450,000 towards the extension of the Bannockburn Family Services Centre (BFSC).

The funding was announced by Federal Member for Corangamite Libby Coker and Shadow Minister for Early Childhood Education and Development and Youth Amanda Rishworth at the BFSC on Thursday 14 April.

The $1.1 million proposed extension of the BFSC will deliver an additional 60 kindergarten places to meet future growth in the south of Golden Plains. Of the Shire’s population, 11.4% is aged 5 to 11 years, which is the highest rate in Victoria, and the birth rate in the Shire grew by 4.5% from 2020 to 2021, creating greater demand for early years services.
