Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking community input on the draft Asset Management Strategy and Policy, recently endorsed for public exhibition at its meeting on Tuesday 26 March 2024.

In an effort to responsibly manage its assets in a sustainable manner, Council has updated the Asset Management Policy (the Policy) and Asset Management Strategy 2024-29 (the Strategy) to align with its growing asset management needs.

Residents are invited to share their thoughts on the draft Strategy and draft Policy from Wednesday 27 March to Friday 10 May 2024. This feedback will contribute to the finalisation and adoption of these documents at the June 2024 Council meeting.

The revised draft Asset Management Policy enables Council to implement a coordinated approach to the management of all assets essential to Council’s strategic and operational goals, and defines a broad framework and principles for the sustainable and effective lifecycle management of all asset groups.

The revised draft Asset Management Strategy outlines a coordinated approach to managing all assets crucial to Council’s strategic and operations objectives. It establishes a comprehensive framework and principles for the sustainable and efficient lifecycle management of all asset groups for current and future generations in Golden Plains.

Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encourages residents to share their valuable input on the draft Strategy and Policy.

The Asset Management Policy adheres to best practices, meeting the requirements of the National Asset Management Assessment Framework. It will enable Council to implement a coordinated approach to the management of all assets essential to Council’s strategic and operational goals,” Cr Cunningham said.

Likewise, the Asset Management Strategy outlines the goals Council aims to achieve to enhance its asset management capabilities and derive maximum value from its assets,” he said.

I encourage community members to review these draft documents and provide feedback. Your input will help shape Council’s decision making and planning to ensure we continue to improve our asset management.

The draft Strategy and draft Policy along with the opportunity to provide feedback can be viewed online at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/consultations or hard copies can be collected at Council’s Customer Hubs, 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale.
