COVID-19 Update: 15 September 2021

The Victorian Government has announced that the City of Ballarat will enter a seven-day lockdown from 11.59pm, Wednesday 15 September to slow the spread of COVID-19.

As a result of the City of Ballarat lockdown, Council’s Smythesdale Customer Service Centre at The Well, 19 Heales Street, will be closed on Friday 17 September. The centre will reopen for its regular hours on Monday 20 September at 8.30am.

There have also been changes to the Golden Plains Community Bus timetable during the City of Ballarat’s seven-day lockdown. The northern bus will not run on Thursday 16 September. The regular Tuesday timetable in the south of the Shire will continue as normal, and will operate with COVIDSafe measures in place. To read the timetable and book a seat, click here.

During the seven-day lockdown, residents from regional Victoria, including from Golden Plains Shire, must not travel to the City of Ballarat, other than for permitted reasons. These include:

  • for authorised work or permitted education
  • to visit an intimate partner
  • for care and compassionate reasons, including permitted child minding
  • to access necessary goods and services provided they are from the facility that is closest to where you live
  • other limited reasons such as moving house

While in the City of Ballarat for the above reasons, residents of regional Victoria must comply with the City of Ballarat lockdown restrictions.
