Council Open For Melbourne Cup Day 2021

General

Council’s Customer Service Centres and offices will remain open for the Melbourne Cup Day public holiday on Tuesday 2 November.

In May, following community consultation, Council resolved that Golden Plains Shire will observe Melbourne Cup Day as a public holiday for the next four years, in line with the majority of regional Victorian councils.

While Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 2 November will be a recognised public holiday for Golden Plains Shire residents and businesses, Council’s Customer Service Centres and offices will remain open.

Council’s Customer Service Centres in at 2 Pope Street, Bannockburn and 19 Heales Street, Smythesdale will be open from 8.30am to 5pm and all Council services will operate as normal. This includes the kerbside bin collection on Tuesday 2 November, which will not be affected by the public holiday and will go ahead as per the normal schedule.
