Golden Plains Shire Council has launched a new and innovative Online Community Directory which provides easy-to-find information and assists residents and visitors in engaging with the many local community groups, clubs, services, associations and facilities based in the Shire.

The Online Community Directory features a range of categories and listings for people to search. Eligible groups can also add their own free listing by creating an account at Golden Plains Shire Council’s website. Once approved, groups can independently manage their own listings and update them as needed.

Golden Plains Shire Council Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham encouraged eligible groups to join the Online Community Directory and showcase the wide variety of offerings within the region.

“We encourage all community groups, community service organisations, sport and recreation clubs, artists and creatives within Golden Plains Shire to upload a profile to the Golden Plains Shire Online Community Directory so residents and visitors can get in contact with you if they are interested in joining, volunteering or visiting,” Cr Cunningham said.

“Residents and visitors will easily be able to search for local groups of interest using the Online Community Directory through the user-friendly interface and potential residents can assess Golden Plains Shire’s liveability when considering moving to an area within the Shire.”

The Online Community Directory and a user guide with instructions on how to create a community listing are available at goldenplains.vic.gov.au/community-directory

Community organisations, groups, clubs, services, associations, and facilities based in the Golden Plains Shire and surrounding municipalities which may be engaging local residents are welcome to submit a listing. The Community Online Directory welcomes listings from non-commercial entities, with exceptions made for businesses offering cultural or community services including arts businesses, childcare facilities, eco-businesses, education, health, and aged cares services.
