Connecting With Your Councillors in 2024

Council Engagement Program 24
Media Release

Golden Plains community members can once again engage with Councillors through the endorsed Council Engagement Program.

Councillors endorsed the Council Engagement Program 2024 at the December meeting, featuring listening posts and consultation opportunities on the annual Budget Submissions process.

Engagement will begin in February at the Golden Plains Farmers’ Market in Bannockburn and the Smythesdale Community Market in the first quarter of 2024. The next opportunity to engage with our Councillors will be during the draft Budget Submission process in May, featuring an online forum for residents to share their views on the draft Budget.

Golden Plains Shire Mayor Cr Brett Cunningham said providing people with opportunities to discuss matters and issues that are important to them was critical to successful community engagement.

The Councillor Engagement Program aligns strategically with Council's commitment to quality, open community engagement, reinforcing the relationship between Council and the community,” Cr Cunningham said.

This Program ensures open lines of communication with residents and the opportunity to hear ideas, views and concerns directly from community members, supporting Councillors to be well-informed about what matters to Golden Plains Shire residents.

The Councillor Engagement Program will be promoted through various communications channels throughout 2024, including digital and print formats.
